Explore The Lakeside Cafe’

Tucked away in the peaceful countryside at Mill Farm, Barlow Fishery, The Lakeside Cafe’ offers a charming escape that feels like a true hidden gem. It’s the kind of place many people pass by for years before finally deciding to turn down the narrow single-track road, only to discover a spot that quickly becomes a favorite. The setting is one of its biggest draws-surrounded by nature and overlooking tranquil waters, it delivers a calm, rustic atmosphere that perfectly complements a relaxed meal. Inside, the café keeps things simple but inviting, with a menu that covers all the comforting classics: hearty breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, and a tempting selection of cakes and scones. The food is consistently praised for being fresh, satisfying, and generously portioned, especially considering the very reasonable prices that make it accessible for regular visits. What truly stands out, though, is the warmth of the service. Staff here are known for being genuinely friendly and attentive, often going beyond just taking orders to share a bit of conversation, creating a welcoming and personal experience. It’s also notably dog-friendly, making it an ideal stop for walkers exploring the surrounding countryside with their pets. While the coffee might not always be as strong as some would prefer, the overall experience-from the quality of the food to the relaxed, scenic environment-more than makes up for it, giving the café a distinctly homely and approachable character that keeps visitors coming back.

Hidden gem, I have passed by the sign for this place several times over the past 5 years, anyway yesterday saw the sign again, lunch from £5.99, being a true Yorkshire man, thought I need to pay this place a visit, glad I did Great price's, friendly staff and a fantastic location, only a single track road in and out, and very dog friendly Recommended, it's a yes from me and Wilbur

Really nice food in a pleasant rustic atmosphere. A selection of burgers , sandwiches, jacket spuds cakes and breakfasts. I don’t know where they get their staff but all of them I’ve come across whenever I’ve been are absolutely excellent. Efficient service with a smile and a chat. Couldn’t ask for more.

Good cafe, atmospheric and serves tasty snacks (scones and eggs on toast were what we had). Coffee could have been significantly stronger (lattes etc), maybe have filter coffee or bovril next time. Worth a visit.

This cafe is in a lovely location, overlooking the lake where several folks were busy fishing. The lady that took our order was really friendly. The prices compared to other places was very reasonable. We only had a cheese on toast and toasted teacake, but the cooked breakfasts coming out looked delicious.

Beautiful spot. Very clean lakes, and the healthiest fish I've ever see. Great for families, beautiful walks thru the valley, have a brew, lots of parking, very quiet, I could sit with a book all day watching the fish, lazily cruising the lake, for me it's Eden, far from the insanity of the city. If you fish, I cant imagine a better spot.

Recently came and visited with my daughter where we sat in the Lakeside calf and had a breakfast together. I'd have to say ordering the food was very, very slow and could have been quicker, but overall the staff are really friendly. The food was really nice and the atmosphere was fantastic. We sat outside where we could see other anglers fishing. It was a beautiful sunny day and it was just really really nice. I highly do recommend if you're not fishing even if you pop down there to have a breakfast or some food
